Waterproofing: Horizontal vs. Vertical

Horizontal Versus Vertical Waterproofing

As a building owner, the last thing you want to do is leave your building unprotected from the erratic weather elements it faces on a daily basis.  Commercial waterproofing will help to eliminate leaks, foundation issues, health issues related to mold, and destruction of furniture, carpet, or office equipment.  Douglass Colony performs two main waterproofing applications: horizontal and vertical waterproofing.

  • Horizontal Waterproofing: Horizontal applications are appropriate for waterproofing projects that include plazas, parking decks, terraces, garden roofs and green roofs.  In most horizontal applications, the membrane is applied over the finished space and hot-applied, reinforced membrane is required.
  • Vertical Waterproofing: Vertical, or below grade, applications are used for foundations, walls and planters.  Depending on the project, a hot-applied, reinforced membrane or a sheet membrane product may be used.

Waterproofing applications can be used in conjunction with other roof top application such as plaza pavers and gardens.

Douglass Colony installs a variety of commercial waterproofing applications and can help you safeguard your building today.  Call to learn more at 1-877-288-0650 or 303-288-2635 or visit www.douglasscolony.com.
