Lazy Bull Ranch
Lazy Bull Ranch presented a uniquely challenging roofing project at 9,500 feet with a strict completion deadline. Douglass Colony was tasked with removing the existing roofing system down to the studs, installing spray-foam insulation in the full 24-inch cavity, and replacing the roof with a new metal system designed for durability in extreme conditions.
The project required 148 working days and was completed with zero safety incidents—an impressive accomplishment given the site’s mountainous location and unpredictable weather. From November through February, crews endured daily high winds, freezing temperatures, and rapidly changing conditions that demanded constant planning, monitoring, and adaptability to keep the work on track and safe.
In addition to the roofing scope, extensive collaboration was required with the owner and other stakeholders. During construction, the owner replaced decking and installed new landscaping, which meant Douglass Colony had to carefully coordinate with multiple trades and adjust work sequences to minimize conflicts while maintaining quality standards and progress.
The result is a high-performing, durable roof system safely executed under extremely difficult conditions. Lazy Bull Ranch stands as a testament to the team’s resilience, craftsmanship, and commitment to delivering complex projects without compromise.
