Douglass Colony Group 2025 Project Wrap-Up: Building What Others Won’t
2025 was a year where bold ideas met bold execution. Across Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region, our teams stepped into projects that required ingenuity, precision, and a willingness to say yes when others hesitated. As a full-spectrum partner in metals, roofing, waterproofing, solar, and FRAMECAD technologies, we leaned into our role as innovators. It’s our job to push the boundaries of what’s possible, elevate expectations, and deliver results that shape skylines, strengthen communities, and support ambitious visions.
This year, we embraced challenges, deepened partnerships, and continued to redefine what it means to build with creativity and courage. As we look back on the highlights of 2025, we’re celebrating not only the projects themselves but also the people and processes that brought them to life.
A Full Spectrum of Services — And Expertise to Match
Our strength has always come from doing more than one thing well. As leaders in multiple specialty trades, we approach our work holistically, understanding how every system, material, and design decision shapes the entire build. In 2025, our teams applied deep expertise across all major service areas:
Our metals division continued to deliver state-of-the-art fabrication, panelization, and custom architectural metal systems. Supported by our designation as the Rocky Mountain region’s exclusive FRAMECAD partner, we brought speed, accuracy, and design flexibility to projects of every scale.
From low-slope commercial systems to steep-slope installations and high-performance green roofs, roofing remained one of our core strengths. Our teams handled everything from complex tear-offs to custom architectural builds requiring meticulous detail and craftsmanship.
Colorado’s climate leaves no room for shortcuts. Our waterproofing division tackled plaza decks, terraces, foundations, and multi-layer systems built to withstand decades of weather and use.
As demand for renewable, energy-efficient building strategies continued to grow, our solar division delivered turnkey PV systems designed for performance and integration.
Service Area Highlights: Standout Projects from 2025
While every project brings its own challenges and opportunities, a few this year stood out for the way they pushed our creativity, collaboration, technical capabilities, and problem-solving mindset.
Metals Highlight: SGI-USA
The SGI-USA project exemplifies how precision metals work and disciplined craftsmanship come together to elevate an architectural vision. Douglass Colony self-performed every scope on the project, delivering a refined, high-visibility exterior that required absolute accuracy from start to finish.
The building features 12,450 square feet of JM TPO fleeceback roofing, 2,800 square feet of porcelain wall panels, 4,100 square feet of Longboard plank panels, and 4,800 square feet of Berridge L-series soffit panels. The porcelain system in particular demanded an elevated level of execution. Each panel was manufactured to the final size in Spain, shipped directly to the site, and carefully installed by our team. When a handful of panels cracked during handling and installation, our crews field-fabricated precise replacements from full-size sheets, maintaining schedule and aesthetic continuity without compromise.
Despite the project’s compact footprint and constant visibility from ground level, our team delivered a flawless final product. With 5,653 labor hours and zero incidents, SGI-USA stands as a showcase of discipline, coordination, and the kind of craftsmanship that shines up close.
Roofing Highlight: WSSA Legacy Campus
Douglass Colony delivered a large and technically demanding exterior scope, one that required advanced fabrication capabilities, precise coordination, and thousands of hours of expert labor.
Across the project, our teams installed over 38,000 square feet of custom metal wall panels, 32,000 square feet of metal roof panels, and 18,000 square feet of Longboard soffits, supported by an integrated roofing and waterproofing package that included Carlisle TPO, EPDM roofing, Hydrotech waterproofing, below-grade damp proofing, traffic coatings, and mechanical screen walls.
Every custom metal component was fabricated in-house, engineered to millimeter precision. Using 3D laser scanning, our field crews aligned the intricate panel systems with structural and architectural elements, ensuring that even the most complex geometries matched design intent perfectly.
Today, the WSSA Legacy building stands as a civic landmark honoring tradition, advancing sustainability, and reflecting the craftsmanship embedded in our culture.
Waterproofing Highlight: Steelhouse Mixed-Use Development
Steel House is one of Denver’s most architecturally distinctive new developments, and Douglass Colony played a central role in bringing its striking exterior to life. Our teams delivered an expansive, multi-disciplinary scope spanning 179,779 square feet, combining waterproofing, roofing, pavers, coatings, and a monumental custom metal façade.
The project included below-grade damp proofing, split-slab waterproofing, balcony and amenity deck traffic coatings, Carlisle TPO roofing, paver and pedestal assemblies, and extensive architectural metals. One of Steel House’s signature design elements is its bold façade, featuring:
- 5,167 ACM panels, many crafted to resemble structural I-beams
- 36,000+ square feet of perforated garage and screen wall panels
- Corrugated mechanical screen wall panels
- Custom ACM plate and panelized components
With limited laydown space and a compressed schedule, our teams deployed 18 swing stages, sequenced deliveries just-in-time, and collaborated closely with trade partners to maintain efficiency. Sustainability considerations, including reflective TPO and high-performance waterproofing, further contributed to long-term resilience.
Steel House is a testament to the power of strategic planning, multi-trade integration, and the craftsmanship of a team willing to take on complexity head-on.
Solar Highlight: Paloma Gardens Renewable Initiative
Paloma Gardens, a new senior living community in Colorado Springs, was designed with comfort, wellness, and sustainability at its core. With sweeping mountain views, outdoor amenities, and vibrant community spaces, the development offers residents an environment built for connection and quality of life. Douglass Colony contributed to that long-term vision through a tailored solar energy solution engineered to reduce utility use and environmental impact.
In 2025, our solar division installed an 8,586-square-foot, 167.32 kW rooftop photovoltaic system using high-efficiency Hanwha Q-Cell Q.Peak Duo XL-G10.3 BFG panels. This array delivers reliable clean energy, offsets ongoing operational costs, and supports the community’s commitment to sustainability.
Paloma Gardens reflects how thoughtful solar design can enhance senior living environments while strengthening environmental stewardship.
Reflecting on a Year of Innovation
Looking back at 2025, we’re grateful for the trust our clients place in us and the dedication our teams bring to every job site, fabrication shop, and design meeting. Each project, big or small, straightforward or complex, reminds us of why we do what we do: to build smarter, push creativity, and take on the challenges others avoid.
We stepped into this year ready to say yes, and we’re stepping out of it proud of what we delivered.
Looking Ahead to 2026: Building What’s Next
As we head into 2026, several major projects are already underway, spanning metals innovations, solar expansions, roofing upgrades, and complex waterproofing scopes. We’re investing in new technologies, expanding our capabilities, and continuing to build a team ready for the unexpected.
Next year holds massive potential, and we’re ready to create solutions that move our communities and our industry forward.
Here’s to another year of building with vision, grit, and a whole lot of ingenuity.
